Templates are used for specialty shapes—especially arched or irregular windows—to ensure your shade is made to the correct shape.
When Is a Template Needed?
- Perfect arches (height is exactly half of the width) typically do not require a template
- Imperfect arches or unique shapes will require a template
👉 If your window is not a perfect shape, a template is the most accurate way to ensure a proper fit
What You’ll Need
Use one of the following materials:
- Kraft paper
- Butcher paper
- Construction paper
👉 Do not use thin, stretchy, or fragile materials
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Cover the Opening
- Tape paper over the entire window opening
- Allow extra overlap on all sides
Step 2: Trace the Shape
- Carefully trace the exact outline of the window
- Avoid pressing too hard, which can distort the paper
👉 Trace the full opening, not just the glass
Step 3: Add Outside Mount (if needed)
- If ordering an outside mount, draw a second outline showing the desired finished size
- Erase the inner line
Step 4: Label the Template
Clearly mark:
- “Top”
- “Room side”
- Your name
Step 5: Cut and Test Fit
- Cut out the template
- Place it back in the window to confirm it fits perfectly all the way around
Step 6: Prepare for Shipping
- Roll the template (do not fold)
- Place it in a mailing tube
👉 Templates that are folded or creased will be rejected
